Absa drives cashless ecosystem through new initiative

DAR ES SALAAM: ABSA Tanzania has rolled out a strategic campaign aimed at promoting greater adoption of digital banking channels in alignment with national efforts to advance a cashless economy.
The Bank’s Director of Retail Banking, Ms Ndabu Swere, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that by promoting the use of debit and credit cards alongside internet banking, mobile banking and agency services, they aim to simplify transactions, expand financial inclusion and contribute to the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
“Through this campaign, we aim to accelerate the transition to a cashless economy by offering customers safer and more convenient ways to bank,” she said.
This initiative highlights Absa’s commitment to innovation, financial inclusion and providing secure, accessible banking solutions that cater to the evolving needs of Tanzanians across all regions.
The Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Mr Aron Luhanga said this transition supports greater transparency, reduces the costs associated with cash handling and drives overall economic efficiency, paving the way for a more inclusive and digitally driven financial ecosystem.
By promoting the shift toward card usage and digital banking, Absa is enabling customers to become more active participants in today’s digital economy.
By recognising and rewarding everyday customer transactions, the initiative highlights Absa’s commitment to empowering individuals, enhancing convenience and fostering financial inclusion.
