Two Tanzanian medical experts from BMH awarded prestigious fellowship

DODOMA: Two Tanzanian medical experts from the Dodoma-based Benjamin Mkapa Hospital (BMH) have been awarded prestigious American College of Cardiology Fellowship.

The Tanzanian fellow members of American College of Cardiology (FACC) are the Hospital’s Executive Director, Prof Abel Makubi, and Head of Cardiology Department at the BMH, Dr John Meda.

“It’s truly exceptional and a privilege for the institution in particular and the country in general to be awarded this prestigious fellowship programme,” said the Hospital’s Executive Director.

The American College of Cardiology identifies cardiologists after practicing for more than ten years in the field of cardiovascular, a good number of publications and research of the field.

Under the fellowship programme, the fellow members will be able to use FACC designation to signal to colleagues and peers that they have been recognized as cardiovascular professional ranking among the best in the field.

“The professional achievement is an incredible milestone in your career,” read part of the statement issued by the American College of Cardiology recently.

The American College of Cardiology, a 49,000-member nonprofit medical society, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of cardiovascular patients through continuous quality improvement, patient-centered care payment innovation and professionalism.
