PSC to hear 108 appeals, complaints in 19-day session

DODOMA: THE Public Service Commission is set to hear and deliver rulings on a total of 108 appeals and complaints lodged by public servants during its 19-day meeting scheduled to commence on September 29 this year.

Speaking to reporters in Dodoma on Friday, the Acting Secretary of the Public Service Commission, Mr John Mbisso,  said the sitting, which will run from September 29 to October 17, 2025, at the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) Conference Hall in Njedengwa, will be the first for the financial year 2025/2026.

“The Commission has scheduled to deliberate and rule on more than one hundred appeals and complaints submitted by public servants who were not satisfied with decisions made by their employers, appointing authorities or disciplinary authorities,” Mr Mbisso explained.

He said PSC is legally mandated to receive and determine such cases under the Public Service Act (Cap. 298, Revised Edition 2023) as well as the Public Service Regulations of 2022.

According to him, during the meeting, appellants or respondents who requested to appear before the Commission will be allowed to present their arguments and provide additional clarifications in line with Regulation 62(1) of the Public Service Regulations.

In addition, the Commission will table and review implementation reports of its duties for the third and fourth quarters of the financial year 2024/2025.

Highlighting the importance of the session, Mr Mbisso stressed that it demonstrates the Commission’s accountability role in ensuring that public service operations adhere to laws, regulations, procedures and guidelines that promote fairness and transparency.

In a related event, the Acting Secretary also opened an internal working session of the Commission, where he directed a review of internal guidelines, underscoring the need for continuous improvement to match the demands and challenges facing public servants.
