Daudi takes early lead at Lina Pro-Am Golf in Morogoro

MOROGORO: ISIAKA Daudi of TPDF Lugalo Golf Club leads after the opening round of the Lina Professional Golfers (PG) Tour Pro-Am 2025 Morogoro Series at Morogoro Gymkhana Club on Thursday.

Daudi, competing in the elite amateur category, carded a 3-under-par 69 gross to top the leaderboard at the end of the first 18 holes of the 72- hole event.

Trailing him is fellow Lugalo player Enosh Wanyeche, who returned an even-par 72 gross to stay within striking distance.

In the professional category, Isaac Wanyeche (Kili Golf Club) and Fadhil Nkya (Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club) both posted rounds of 73 (+1), tying for third place overall.

Other scores in the amateur field included Prosper Emmanuel (+5), Godfrey Gwacha (+6) and J. James (+6).

Among professionals, Elisante Lembris (Arusha Gymkhana Club) recorded +2 and Salum Dilunga (DGC) finished at +6. Nkya, currently tied for third, remains in the spotlight as he targets a fourth consecutive win on the 2025 Lina Tour.

He previously claimed titles at Morogoro (March), TPC Moshi (May) and Lugalo (July), where he won with a total score of +11 gross and took home 6.8m/-.

The Lina Tour consists of five series held across the country and is named in honour of the late Lina Said Nkya, a former national golfer and Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) official who passed away in 2021.

Organised in collaboration with the Nkya family, TLGU, the Tanzania Professional Golfers Association (TPGA) and Penda Golf Tanzania, the tour provides competitive opportunities for both professional and elite amateur golfers.

Amateur participants also compete for World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.
