TBS pushes for quality in mining sector

GEITA: STAKEHOLDERS in the mining sector have been urged to focus on adhering to quality standards in mineral value addition to increase their income.

The call was made by the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) Manager for the Lake Zone-Western region, Joseph Makene during the 8th National Mining Technology Exhibition recently.

Makene emphasised that products meeting established quality standards typically command higher market value, underscoring the importance for stakeholders particularly in the mining sector to prioritise quality assurance.

He stressed that obtaining the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) quality mark is crucial, as it provides consumers with verified assurance of a product’s compliance with rigorous quality benchmarks.

“Consumers should actively seek products bearing the TBS quality mark, as it signifies adherence to recognised standards and guarantees reliability,” Makene urged.
