NSSF rakes in 9.9 trillion/- to make a breakthrough in the fund’s value

KIGOMA: THE performance of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has hit a milestone after a voluminous increase to 9.9tri/- in the 2024/25 financial year from 8.3tri/- recorded in 2023/24, 55th NSSF Workers’ Council Meeting revealed today, September 24, 2025.
The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disability), Hon. Mary Maganga, while officiating the opening of the 55th NSSF Workers’ Council Meeting held in Kigoma Region.
She attributed the success to effective management, the adoption of ICT systems, and the control of revenue leakages. “It is your duty to continue improving services to members through ICT, sealing revenue leakages, and enhancing innovation to attract new members,” said Hon. Mary, while urging employers to remit their employees’ contributions on time as required by law.

For his part, the NSSF Director General, Mr. Masha Mshomba, said the achievements were a result of the Fund attaining its set targets for the financial year 2024/25, particularly through ICT deployment, sealing of revenue leakages, and accelerating contribution collections.
He further noted that the success was made possible through the vision of the Sixth Phase Government under Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s presidency, firm oversight by the Prime Minister’s Office, and the cooperation of members, employers, and stakeholders.
“In the financial year 2025/26, we have set a target to increase the Fund’s value to 11.7tri/-,” stated Mr. Mshomba.
Nevertheless, he highlighted challenges facing the Fund, including some employers’ failure to remit their employees’ contributions on time, a situation that inconveniences members upon retirement. However, he assured that NSSF, in collaboration with the Government and other public institutions, is working tirelessly to address and minimize such challenges.

To further enhance services, he said, priority will continue to be placed on ICT systems, contribution collections, revenue growth, and adopting a “customer-first approach” to ensure that every member receives timely and quality services and benefits.
Delivering a vote of thanks, NSSF Kinondoni Regional Manager, Mr. Large Materu, assured the guest of honour that all directives issued will be diligently implemented.
“We shall continue to strengthen ICT systems, enhance innovation, and safeguard members’ benefits to ensure the Fund makes even greater strides,” said Mr. Materu.
