EACOP project empowers locals

DAR ES SALAAM: THE East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project contractor is equipping local businesses with skills and tools to enhance their competitiveness in the global supply chain through targeted capacity-building initiatives.
Under the programme, implemented by the Small Enterprise Supplier Development Corporation (SESDCorp), WASCO ISOAF, a level one contractor for the EACOP project, is helping local companies become competitive and compliant with stringent international standards.
Tanzania’s EACOP Local Content Manager, Neema Kweka, said the weeklong training focused on global safety standards, sustainability practices, procurement readiness and Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) protocols.
“EACOP is pleased to see contractors, like WASCO ISOAF, actively conducting these vital trainings. This partnership is crucial for building a robust and sustainable local supply chain,” said Ms Kweka on Monday.
“We will continue empowering and building capacity for local businesses along the EACOP corridor to ensure they are not just participants, but key beneficiaries of this national project.”
The intensive weeklong training, held since Monday in Dar es Salaam, was delivered by SESDCorp, a local consulting business dedicated to empowering Tanzanian enterprises to access global value chains.

The aim is to integrate Tanzanian enterprises more effectively into the EACOP project and other major industrial undertakings, transforming them from local vendors into globally competitive partners.
The WASCO ISOAF representative, Mr Jafari Mbaye, said they are happy to see so many local businesses have attended this training.
“We believe the knowledge gained this week will be immensely beneficial for their businesses, not only for EACOP opportunities but for competing in the global marketplace. This is at the heart of our commitment to Tanzania,” Mr Mbaye said.
