TRA United, Dodoma Jiji share points as TFF suspends stadium

TABORA: TRA United and Dodoma Jiji FC played out a 2-2 draw in the Mainland Premier League encounter at the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium yesterday, in a match that saw both sides come from behind before settling for a point each.
After a goalless first half, Dodoma Jiji broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute through Berno Ngassa. The lead was short-lived, however, as six minutes later TRA United equalised through Konate Fode, who brought the scores level at 1-1.
The match maintained a high tempo and in the 81st minute, Joseph Akandwanaho found the net to put TRA United ahead. But Dodoma Jiji responded quickly, with Iddi Kipagwile converting a penalty in the 85th minute to make it 2-2.
Both teams created additional chances but failed to capitalise and the match ended with the points shared.
For TRA United, the match marked their league debut this season, while Dodoma Jiji collected their first point after a 1-0 defeat to Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) in their opening fixture at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
In a separate development, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has suspended the use of the Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium for league matches.
The federation stated that the venue does not meet the required technical standards and regulations outlined under the Club Licensing Regulations.
According to TFF, the stadium’s infrastructure failed to satisfy key criteria necessary for hosting official matches.

As a result, teams previously using the stadium as their home ground will be required to relocate their fixtures to alternative approved venues until the stadium undergoes improvements and passes a new inspection.
TFF has urged all clubs to continue maintaining and upgrading their home grounds in accordance with league standards and licensing requirements.
