Envoy alerts Tanzanians seeking to travel to China in October

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Chinese Embassy has alerted Tanzanians planning travel during October to complete all necessary arrangements early as the embassy will be temporarily closed to avoid inconveniences.

The Chinese Ambassador, Chen Mingjian informed Ambassador Shelukindo that the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania will be closed for a short period starting October 1, 2025, to celebrate their National Day.

Tanzania’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Samwel Shelukindo, met with Ambassador Mingjian to discuss cooperation between Tanzania and China at the ministry’s satellite offices in Dar es Salaam, where they discussed various ways to enhance cooperation in investment and trade, as well as to strengthen support on regional and international issues concerning both countries.

They also reviewed outcomes from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in June this year, where China pledged continued collaboration with Tanzania in all areas outlined in the forum’s resolutions.

The leaders agreed to increase training opportunities to build the capacity of ministry staff in diplomacy alongside other government institution employees.
