ACT-Wazalendo aims to shake up Dodoma politics

DODOMA: ALLIANCE for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) is set to challenge Dodoma’s political status quo, fielding 88 candidates for councillor seats in the October General Election.
The region has a total of 209 wards, each represented by democratically elected councillors. The party says it intends to challenge CCM’s longstanding dominance in the region and offer voters a fresh alternative.
Speaking to reporters in Dodoma yesterday, ACT Wazalendo’s Dodoma Regional Chairman, Mussa Habagui, said the party is poised to bring meaningful changes to the region, which has traditionally offered little room for opposition parties.
“This is a great victory and liberation for the people of Dodoma. Through our candidates, we are set to bring meaningful changes in this year’s elections,” he said.
The move comes as ACT-Wazalendo officially launched its campaign in the region, focusing on a manifesto centred on principles of justice, gender equality and good governance.
Mr Habagui further said that the party’s platform is designed to directly address the everyday challenges faced by Tanzanians, from poverty to a lack of citizen participation in national development.
“ACT-Wazalendo is here to liberate communities, uphold the rule of law, fight poverty and restore joy to Tanzanians by ensuring citizens fully participate in and benefit from national resources,” he said.

“Only ACT-Wazalendo can provide practical solutions by engaging people directly in development matters, stressing that leadership must serve the people rather than the other way around,”
ACT-Wazalendo campaign aims to raise awareness of key policy areas, including transparency, citizen participation and inclusive development.
Mr Habagui further urged Tanzanians to exercise their democratic rights responsibly, voting for leaders ready to serve communities and implement programmes that truly improve lives.
With the candidates now officially nominated, he said, ACT-Wazalendo is determined to provide voters in the capital city with a tangible alternative.
The party promises not only political representation but also active engagement, ensuring communities have a voice in decisions that shape their future, Mr Habagui said.
