NACTVET accredits five new CBE programmes

DAR ES SALAAM: THE National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) has accredited five new academic programmes at the College of Business Education (CBE) for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This announcement was made over the weekend in Dar es Salaam by the Chairperson of the CBE Board, Professor Zacharia Mganilwa, during a press briefing.

Prof Mganilwa said the introduction of the new programmes is part of the college’s ongoing efforts to offer quality, modern education aligned with the needs of both local and international job markets.

Among the newly launched programmes is a Double Degree in Business Administration, developed in line with directives issued by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in August last year during her meeting with the Treasury and heads of government institutions and public organisations regarding foreign investment.

“Our college has launched this programme to prepare students to become effective managers and leaders in both public and private sectors,” said Prof Mganilwa.

“It will equip graduates with the skills needed to plan, lead and manage businesses both locally and internationally.”

He noted that the key benefit of the programme is to increase the number of business management professionals who can contribute to national economic growth.

The programme is a collaboration between CBE and the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) in China.

Under this arrangement, students will study for two years in Tanzania and two years in China, marking the first such Double Degree programme in the country.

In addition, CBE has introduced a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Technologies, aimed at supporting the government’s efforts to develop a workforce capable of addressing national challenges such as technological advancement, economic development and youth unemployment.

“This unique programme will integrate classroom learning with practical training through an apprenticeship system,” Prof Mganilwa explained.

“Students will alternate between one semester of classroom instruction and one semester of hands-on experience in a real work environment. The goal is to produce technology experts who can develop digital solutions, which are vital in today’s science and technology-driven era.”

The Digital Technologies programme is offered in collaboration with the e-Government Authority (eGA), with a formal agreement already signed. In line with the newly adopted National Education Policy, CBE has also introduced a Bachelor of Economics and Accounting, designed to train secondary school teachers with expertise in these subjects.

“The aim is to build capacity for teaching Economics and Accounting in secondary schools, improving the quality of education and meeting the growing demand for qualified teachers in these areas,” Prof Mganilwa added.

CBE Rector, Prof Edda Lwoga, urged young people to take advantage of these new programmes to gain the knowledge and skills required to compete in both local and international job markets.
