Over 100 golfers set for Arusha Open tomorrow

ARUSHA: OVER 100 golfers are expected to feature in the Arusha Open Golf Tournament, which tees off tomorrow, at the Arusha Gymkhana Club and will run through 31 August.

The event is one of the most prestigious fixtures on the Tanzania Golf Union’s (TGU) annual calendar.

According to the Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) Golf Competition Secretary, Teji Bansal, participants for the three-day event are from Dar es Salaam, Moshi, Morogoro and hosts Arusha.

“We have finalised all preparations to ensure that our visitors enjoy both the tournament and the charm of Arusha city,” he said, adding that upcountry participants are expected to start arriving today.

Bansal further noted that every detail was put in place to deliver a top-class event, highlighting that the competition not only attracts golfing talent from across the country but also boosts local tourism and hospitality.

The event is sponsored by Reliance Insurance, whose continued support has been instrumental in ensuring smooth organisation, Bensal said.

Last year’s edition was won by Arusha’s top golfer, Jay Nathwani, who will once again be among the favourites to defend his crown.
