JKT Queens placed in Group C for CECAFA Qualifiers

DAR ES SALAAM: JKT Queens have been placed in Group C of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers.

They will face South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars FC and Zanzibar’s JKU Princess.

The qualifiers will take place from September 4th to 16th at Nyayo Stadium and Ulinzi Complex in Nairobi. This will be the second time Kenya hosts the tournament, having first done so in 2021.

Group A features Kenya Police Bullets FC, FC Denden and Kampala Queens FC, while Group B includes defending champions CBE FC of Ethiopia, Top Girls Academy FC and Rwanda’s Rayon Sports Women FC.

JKT Queens are the only team from the Tanzania Mainland Women’s League in this year’s qualifiers. Zanzibar will be represented by JKU Princess.

JKT Queens won the CECAFA title in 2023, while fellow Tanzanian club Simba Queens claimed it in 2022. Other past winners include Kenya’s Vihiga Queens (2021) and CBE FC (2024).

This is JKT Queens’ second appearance in the qualifiers. Simba Queens have also featured twice. Both clubs are the only ones from the Mainland Premier League to compete in the regional qualifiers. In past appearances, Simba Queens reached the semi-finals, while JKT Queens exited at the group stage.

The CECAFA qualifiers will determine the region’s representative at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
