Simba stadium construction to commence in Jan

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC are set to break ground on the long-awaited modern stadium in January next year.
The state-of-the-art venue, to be constructed at the club’s site at Bunju, Dar es Salaam, is designed to host between 10,000 and 12,000 seated fans.
The confirmation came from Joseph Rwegasira, the CEO of Jayrutty Investment Ltd, the club’s new main sponsor, during a press briefing recently.
Rwegasira revealed that all architectural drawings and consultations with experts have been completed, paving the way for construction to begin.
“Regarding the stadium, we have said we will start dealing with the construction in January 2026,” said Rwegasira.
“From July to January, we have the timeframe we have considered to prepare for the construction of our stadium, and I assure you all initial steps for the drawings and experts have been completed,” he said.
While the official groundbreaking will take place early next year, preliminary works will commence within the next fortnight, with site-levelling teams expected to move in.
“What’s left is to deal with the initial cost. And I assure you, after two weeks, people will start levelling the stadium,” Rwegasira explained.
In addition to spearheading the stadium project, Jayrutty Investment is also fulfilling its broader obligations under a 38bn/- five-year sponsorship deal with Simba SC that includes supply of kits, sports equipment and transport facilities.
As part of that agreement, Simba fans can look forward to the arrival of a brand-new modern safari coach for the club, scheduled to land in October 2025, a month ahead of the original November timeline.
“According to the contract we inked with Simba Sports Club, I was supposed to bring the bus in November,” Rwegasira noted.
