TAMWA hails Women’s massive entry to General Elections race

DAR ES SALAAM: A massive entry of women seeking presidential and parliamentary seats has impressed the Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA) who take a significant change ahead of the General Elections.

The Executive Director of the Tanzania Media Women’s Association (TAMWA), Dr. Rose Reuben, has praised the advancements, saying her association will work closely with the media to ensure Tanzania conducts a successful,   peaceful, and fair General Election.

Additionally, Dr. Rose noted that the number of women vying for leadership positions has significantly increased compared to previous years.

Therefore, society must believe in the ability of women to lead and successfully govern Tanzania. Women should be supported at all levels, from family and community to the national stage.

She also stressed that those who doubt women’s leadership abilities are mistaken and incorrect.

In efforts to support journalists, TAMWA has continued encouraging them to enhance their knowledge of technology issues, particularly artificial intelligence, so they can effectively utilize technology in their work.

TAMWA has also noted an advancement in communication technology in the country and stated that the association is prepared to continue providing training for journalists.

The training aims to empower journalists to identify and address hate speech and false information, particularly targeting female candidates.

Speaking in a special interview with the Daily News Digital in Dar es Salaam, Dr. Rose highlighted that social media platforms have been using artificial intelligence technology to undermine women, especially those contesting leadership positions.

She emphasized the need for stringent measures to regulate the misuse of such technology.

Dr. Rose further added that as the 2025 General Elections approach, these challenges can be mitigated if media houses continue educating female candidates and helping them gain greater awareness of their leadership roles.
