TZ’s top volleyball trios for World Beach Pro Tour

BURUNDI: SIX of Tanzania’s top beach volleyball players, forming three dynamic teams, are set to compete in the World Beach Pro Tour Future tournament, which officially kicks off today at Eden Palace Resort in Bujumbura, Burundi.

The players have expressed their excitement and determination to represent Tanzania proudly on the international stage.

Team Tanzania is represented by three duos: Omary Bure teams up with David Neeke, while Lameck David partners with Ramadhan Masempele. The third team features Zanzibar-based players Khamis Khamis and Abas Makame.

All players arrived safely in Bujumbura on Monday and are fully prepared to compete in this high-profile international event, which concludes on Sunday.

The Tanzanian athletes bring with them valuable international experience, having played professionally across the East African region, including in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

Neeke has competed extensively in Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi, while Bure recently transitioned from the Burundian league to play in Rwanda.

“The excitement is high as we count down to the start of the tournament. We can’t wait to face top teams from around the world,” said Bure.

The Tanzanian teams are determined to showcase their talent on the global stage, competing against elite squads from countries such as Brazil, Estonia, Germany, Japan, Latvia, Norway, Switzerland, Uganda and the United States.

This marks another step forward in Tanzania’s growing presence in international beach volleyball, as the players aim to raise the national flag high and make their mark against some of the world’s best. The Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF) and regional associations have been working hard to promote beach volleyball.

They understand that the country has many talented players who could achieve great success if given the opportunity and proper support, especially considering that a beach volleyball team consists of only two players.
