Police medical camp benefits hundreds in Dodoma

DODOMA: THE Police Force in Dodoma Region has launched a weeklong medical camp at the Dodoma Police Health Centre, offering free healthcare services to police officers, their families and members of the public.
The camp, which began earlier this week, was inaugurated by the Regional Police Staff Officer, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) William Mwamafupa and brings together specialists from Benjamin Mkapa Hospital and the Police Health Centre.

According to Dr Jackson Shoo, Head of the Dodoma Police Health Centre, services being provided include emergency treatment, cardiovascular screening, general check-ups and medical consultations.
The initiative is part of a collaboration between the Police Force and the Health Check Foundation, aimed at promoting public health and strengthening the wellbeing of security personnel.

Dr Shoo said the response has been overwhelming, with over 60 patients attended to within the first two days alone.
“We are encouraged by the turnout. It shows that people need more access to preventive and curative services,” he noted.

A medical expert from Benjamin Mkapa Hospital praised the partnership, saying it not only improves health outcomes but also fosters trust between citizens and the security sector.
“When police officers and civilians share services like this, it helps build community confidence,” he said.
The camp, which concluded yesterday helped residents in need of healthcare. Patients welcomed the initiative, saying the free services ease the burden of medical expenses.
For the Police Force, the camp is part of broader efforts to ensure officers remain healthy and fit to serve, while extending solidarity to the wider community.
