Mirereni ordered to complete the Tanzanite market by Sept 15th

MANYARA: THE Regional Commissioner of Manyara, Queen Sendiga, has instructed the Regional Administrative Secretary, Mariam Muhaji, to ensure that the contractor constructing the Tanzanite gemstone market building in the small town of Mirerani, Simanjiro District, completes the remaining small portion of the project before September 15th this year.
The directive was issued during the ceremony to lay the foundation stone for the building, which is being constructed by the government for 5.4bn/-.
Sendiga emphasized that the completion of the building will enable gemstone traders to start using the market early, which will enhance the efficiency of their operations.
Furthermore, the Regional Commissioner directed the District Executive Director of Simanjiro Council to oversee a fair allocation of rental offices within the building to ensure that many gemstone traders have the opportunity to conduct their business equitably.

According to the project supervisor, Anna Akyo, the five-story building is 98 percent complete, and the remaining part is expected to be finished by the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Rachel Joseph Njau, the Vice Chairperson of the Tanzania Miners Association, speaking on behalf of miners and Tanzanite traders, expressed gratitude to the government for its efforts to complete the building, describing it as a long-awaited dream.
Njau said that the completion of the building will open significant opportunities for a collective marketplace for many traders from different parts of the country and will increase profits in the gemstone business.
