Tanzania consults APRM to evaluate the nation’s creditworthiness

DODOMA: THE Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, has led the Ministry’s delegation in a meeting with credit rating experts from the Secretariat of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).

Report released by the Ministry, the purpose of the experts’ visit is to meet with Tanzania’s financial specialists to assess the country’s capacity and readiness to engage with international organizations that evaluate a nation’s creditworthiness on the global stage.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Executive Secretary of APRM Tanzania, Mr Lamau Mpolo, among many other things, discussed the importance of continuing to build the capacity of Tanzanian experts and improve good governance.

The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is a specialized agency of the African Union and a pioneer self-monitoring tool for promoting good governance in Africa.

Established in 2003 by the New Partnership for Africa (NEPAD), it is a voluntary instrument that offers African States the opportunity to systematically assess and review the state of governance in their country, and thereafter define and implement actions necessary to improve the status quo.
