CECAFA Kagame Cup in Tanzania attracts 12 teams

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has announced that 12 teams will participate in the regional Kagame Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam from September 2nd to 15th.
In a statement published on the association’s website, CECAFA Executive Director, Auka Gecheo, expressed enthusiasm about the tournament, stating: “We are happy to announce that the tournament will take place from September 2-15 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.”
Gecheo clarified that the competition will feature 12 teams, with the host country providing two teams, as well as an additional guest team from another zone.

He added: “We expect this to be a more competitive tournament, as most teams will use it as preparations for the 2025/2026 CAF competitions.”
Last year, the Zambia Premier League side, Red Arrows, won the CECAFA Kagame Cup by defeating Rwanda’s APR FC in the final match held at the KMC Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The following teams are expected to participate: Vipers SC (Uganda), El Merriekh SC Bentiu (South Sudan), Mlandege SC (Zanzibar), Al Hilal (Sudan), Kenya Police FC (Kenya), Ethiopia Insurance (Ethiopia), MCC FC (Somalia), APR FC (Rwanda), Aigle Noir FC (Burundi), Young Africans SC, Simba SC (Tanzania) and ASAS Djibouti Telecom (Djibouti).
