Public servants urged to join Hazina Saccos

DODOMA: HAZINA Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (Hazina Saccos) has been urged to step up efforts in raising awareness among public servants to encourage them to join the cooperative and tap into the available financial opportunities.

Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule, made the call recently when she visited the Ministry of Finance pavilion at the ongoing Nane Nane Exhibitions at Nzuguni grounds in the region.

She said greater awareness among civil servants would not only enhance financial inclusion but also empower them economically through access to affordable credit and savings services provided by the Saccos.

This year’s Nane Nane exhibitions are being held under the theme: Choose Good Leaders for Sustainable Agricultural and Fisheries Development 2025.

The theme aims to sensitise citizens to participate in the upcoming 2025 General Elections and elect leaders who will champion socioeconomic transformation through key sectors such as agriculture and fisheries. Ms Senyamule said many public servants still lack sufficient understanding of the benefits offered by Hazina Saccos.

“Many public servants still don’t have enough understanding of the benefits of joining Hazina Saccos, so it is your duty to ensure this education reaches as many as possible so they can also join,” she emphasised.

She advised the cooperative to explore various platforms to disseminate financial education, including public forums, radio and television advertisements, as well as social media, to reach a wider audience and empower employees economically through access to low-interest loans.

On her part, Hazina Saccos Services Officer, Ms Leah Nkinda, said the cooperative has recently introduced two new loan products, Tuliza Moyo and Ajira Mpya aimed at supporting public servants in overcoming economic challenges.

“These loans are offered on favourable terms to help public servants meet emergency needs and provide an alternative to exploitative street loans with high interest rates,” she said.

She explained that the Tuliza Moyo loan is interest-free and designed to assist employees in urgent situations. The loan, which ranges from 300,000/- to 1,000,000/-, is repayable within one month and is disbursed within 24 working hours after application submission.

In addition, she said the Ajira Mpya loan targets newly employed public servants, specifically those who have been in service for less than six months, with the aim of supporting them during the early stages of their employment.
