INEC assures Media of strong ties during General Elections

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Director of Elections at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ramadhani Kailima, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working closely with the media before, during, and after the upcoming General Election scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Kailima made the statement today while opening a special training session for editors and journalists held at the Mlimani City Conference Hall in Dar es Salaam. The training focused on preparations and management of elections for councillors, Members of Parliament, and the President.
Addressing the participants, Kailima emphasized the critical role of journalists in promoting national peace and unity, warning that irresponsible use of media platforms could lead to national unrest.

“Journalists play a vital role in preserving the peace of our country. Your pens are powerful they can either build or destroy. It is essential to report stories that foster unity, not hatred,” Kailima stated.
He further noted that INEC is ready to collaborate closely with the media throughout the electoral process, including participation in radio and television programs and providing timely information to support accurate and ethical journalism.
The training aims to equip journalists with the knowledge and skills necessary to report on the elections professionally, ensuring that the public receives timely, factual, and unbiased information.
