TGU names Junior Golf Committee leaders

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) has officially announced the appointment of leaders to the newly formed National Junior Golf Committee, a key body tasked with overseeing the development of young golf talent across the country.
In a statement signed by TGU Chairman Gilman Kasiga, the union named Kain Mbaya as Chairman and Johnson John as Secretary of the committee.
Their appointments mark a strategic move to strengthen junior golf structures and streamline talent development initiatives nationwide.
He stressed that the committee will be responsible for coordinating training programs, facilitating participation in both local and international competitions, identifying emerging talent, and fostering partnerships with golf clubs, schools, coaches and parents.
“The Junior Golf Committee will play a vital role in laying a solid foundation for children and youth to participate, learn, and thrive through the game of golf,” the statement reads in part.
TGU expressed strong confidence in the appointed leaders, highlighting their expected professionalism, dedication, and accountability in shaping the next generation of golfers.
The union has called on all golf clubs, coaches, parents and other sports stakeholders to work closely with the new committee to ensure junior golfers receive quality development, competitive opportunities and a nurturing sporting environment.
Two months prior, TGU took a significant step to boost junior golf by unveiling the full committee membership during the official handover of 50 junior golf kits.

The kits were distributed as part of the ongoing National Golf Development Program under the theme ‘Golf For All’, a collaborative effort between TGU and The R&A— the global governing body responsible for the promotion and development of golf outside the United States.
Other appointed committee members include former Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) vice-president Anita Siwale, Maryanne Mugo, Enock Magile, Danstan Kolimba and Madina Iddi.
