NMB supports sustainable farming via exhibition

DODOMA: NMB Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development by deepening its support for NaneNane, the country’s premier agricultural exhibition celebrating the vital role of farmers.

This renewed engagement reflects the bank’s purposedriven mission to empower farming communities, promote agri-innovation and strengthen food security.

NMB Central Zone Manager, Ms Janeth Shango, said after presenting 100m/- to the Ministry of Agriculture for this year’s NaneNane edition in Dodoma next month that by aligning with such a significant national event, NMB is not only celebrating agriculture but also driving longterm investment in one of the country’s most vital economic sectors.

“This is not our first partnership with the agricultural community and it certainly won’t be the last,” Shango noted, highlighting that the bank’s total support for the fair has now exceeded 470m/- over the past seven years. “Our support goes directly to the Ministry to ensure it reaches farmers on the ground and helps improve their economic prospects,” she added.

Through the NMB Foundation, the bank has reached over 1,300 AMCOS and cooperatives in coffee, sesame, tobacco and cashew. Today’s 100m/- contribution helps ensure Nane Nane remains a key platform for farmers to access knowledge, markets and confidence.

Ms Shango emphasised that empowering farmers is key to national prosperity, noting that when rural households thrive, so does Tanzania.

“We are committed to guiding farmers from subsistence to sustainable, productive agribusiness,” she said.

NMB Head of Agri-Business, Mr Nsolo Mlozi, highlighted the bank’s hands-on approach to driving sustainable change across agricultural value chains.

“At NMB, we align our calendar with farming seasons because we understand our customers live by them,” he explained.

“Our goal is to help farmers transition from rain-fed practices to irrigation, from isolated plots to connected markets while promoting crop insurance to safeguard their efforts.” Mr Mlozi underscored that such initiatives are rooted in a belief that sustainability starts with stability.

“When farmers can plan, insure and sell with confidence, they use land and water more responsibly and build futures that endure.” Receiving the cheque, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Gerald Mweri, praised NMB’s consistent, purpose-driven support.

“The 100m/- is a significant boost for preparations involving more than 500 exhibitors,” Mr Mweri noted.

“Beyond Dodoma, we invite NMB to continue partnering with us at zonal exhibitions in Arusha, Morogoro, Simiyu and Mbeya, where their services are equally vital.”
