Dar City, Tausi Royals extend BDL 2025 domination

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Basketball Dar es Salaam League (BDL) 2025 delivered another action-packed weekend at the Don Bosco Upanga court, with dominant displays from league leaders in both the men and women’s categories.

In the men’s category, unbeaten Dar City maintained their flawless record with a commanding 76–53 win over Don Bosco Oratory.

The result strengthened their grip at the top of the standings with 22 points from 11 matches.

Their combination of explosive offence and solid defence continues to set them apart as this season’s team to beat.

Former champions Pazi remained hot on their heels, overpowering Mgulani JKT 101–22 in a one-sided encounter to stay second with 20 points from 11 matches.

Stein Warriors also kept their title hopes alive with a 74–50 victory over ABC.

They now share 20 points with Pazi but sit third due to inferior goal difference.

In another Sunday action Srelio edged Polisi 63–57 in a closely contested battle to boost their playoff hopes.

In the women’s category, Tausi Royals reaffirmed their title credentials with an impressive 78–48 win over fellow contenders Don Bosco Troncatti.

Both teams are now tied at 19 points, but Tausi Royals lead the table on superior goal difference.

Jeshi Stars recorded the biggest win of the day, routing Kurasini Divas 100–37 to stay within striking distance of the top.

Vijana Queens also earned a vital 62–52 win over Twalipo Queens to stay in the hunt for a top-eight finish.

Polisi Stars saw off Ukonga Queens 69–54, while Kigamboni Queens registered a 53–34 triumph over Mgulani Stars in another competitive fixture.

Organised by the Basketball Dar es Salaam Association (BD), the 2025 league tipped off in May and has now entered a crucial second-leg phase.
