Students to get on-spot admission in Dar es Salaam

DAR ES SALAAM: IN a significant development for Tanzania’s education sector, over 20 global universities are set to offer on-the-spot admissions to local students during a major education exhibition in Dar es Salaam.

The event is expected to broaden access to international higher learning opportunities and reflects growing global recognition of Tanzanian students’ academic potential.

The exhibition, organised by Global Education Link (GEL) in collaboration with the Overseas Education Agency, will take place from Tuesday, July 22.

It will bring together universities from countries including Cyprus, India, China, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Australia, Turkey, Mauritius and Dubai.

GEL Executive Director Mr Abdulmalik Mollel said the event will provide students with instant admission opportunities to reputable institutions abroad, allowing them to bypass long application processes and connect directly with university representatives.

“At this exhibition, students who have completed secondary school or diploma studies will have the chance to receive immediate admission from top universities. This is a great opportunity, especially for those seeking international exposure in their academic journey,” said Mr Mollel.

He added that participating universities will offer scholarships ranging from 20 to 80 per cent, with some providing 100 per cent scholarships, particularly for master’s and PhD programmes in technical and engineering fields. “There are institutions that will offer full scholarships to postgraduate students, especially in engineering and science-based programmes,” he noted.

Mr Mollel assured parents and guardians that all participating universities are accredited and internationally recognised and meet both global standards and local regulatory requirements in Tanzania.

“The admission process is guaranteed for students with the required academic qualifications. Additionally, most of these universities charge fees comparable to those of local institutions, making international education more affordable,” he explained.

He also highlighted that student welfare, safety, and timely documentation are key criteria used in selecting the participating institutions.

“We have prioritised universities that offer oncampus accommodation, quality academic programmes and strong student support systems,” said Mr Mollel.

To make it easier for students to participate, GEL has introduced three access options: Visiting the exhibition in person, booking an appointment in advance, or filling in details online through the GEL website to receive quick admission assistance.

He underscored that education remains the most valuable legacy parents can offer their children and reiterated GEL’s commitment to opening international learning pathways for Tanzanian youth.

“Through this initiative, we are enabling students to gain access to world-class education and preparing them to compete globally while eventually contributing to Tanzania’s development,” he concluded.
