United Nations Strengthens Trust in TPDF

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC: THE United Nations, through its peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), has continued to show strong confidence in the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) by awarding them a major infrastructure project to construct three crucial bridges in the Mambere-Kadei Region.

The bridges, which had been in disrepair for a long time, severely disrupted transportation between villages and towns, hindering access to essential services such as education, healthcare, and markets.

Speaking during the project launch, the Secretary General of the Equatorial Region, Zouketchia Emmanuel, expressed his deep appreciation to the TPDF for their commitment and impactful contribution to the people of the Central African Republic.

“We have struggled with transportation for a long time because of these broken bridges. Today, we are witnessing the change brought by MINUSCA through our true friends from Tanzania. Thank you very much, TPDF,” said Mr Zouketchia.

The Deputy Head of the United Nations in the Mambere-Kadei Region (MINUSCA office, Berberati), Mr Landry Muketchu, said the UN awarded this Quick Impact Project (QIP) to the TPDF because of their consistent professionalism, discipline, and strong team spirit in previous assignments under MINUSCA.

“We entrusted TPDF with this bridge construction project because they have continuously shown exceptional professionalism in every task given by the United Nations,” he emphasized.

A Contingent Commander of TANBAT 08, Lieutenant Colonel Theophil Nguruwe, thanked the United Nations through MINUSCA for entrusting the TPDF with such a vital assignment.

“We pledge to implement this project with the highest level of professionalism, in accordance with UN standards, and to ensure its timely completion,” said Lt Col Nguruwe.

Local community members present at the launch ceremony expressed joy and gratitude, noting that the project represents a real step forward in restoring hope and improving their daily lives.

In addition to this initiative, the TPDF continues to play a key role in peacekeeping operations, humanitarian assistance (including medical outreach and school construction), and community engagement such as sports and public service activities.
