ZRA, DTB partner for digital payment

ZANZIBAR: THE Zanzibar Revenue Authority (ZRA) and Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) have partnered to enhance the efficiency of government revenue collection through the ZanMalipo electronic payment gateway.
Zanzibar E-Government Authority (eGAZ) Director General Dr Said Seif Said said during the official launch recently that the isles is not lagging behind in the global digital shift and is determined to ensure that the benefits of technological advancements are felt by its citizens.
“Zanzibar is committed to ensuring that every technological development seen elsewhere is also implemented here and benefit from the digital revolution,” said Dr Said.
ZRA and eGAZ have been working closely to ensure 100 per cent compliance in government tax collection and praised DTB for partnering with the government in this vital area.
“This collaboration represents a powerful synergy between the private and public sectors,” he said.

DTB Chief Executive Officer Mr Ravneet Chowdhury applauded the Zanzibar for embracing innovation and improving public service delivery through digital platforms.
“This partnership reflects a shared vision to modernise tax collection and enhance voluntary tax compliance,” said Chowdhury, adding. “ZanMalipo is not only a bridge between citizens and government services but also between time lost in queues and time gained for business and nation-building.” The ZanMalipo platform, a government electronic payment gateway, now allows businesses and individuals to settle taxes, levies and statutory fees through DTB branches in both Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania.
Taxpayers will now only need to obtain control numbers from ZRA and complete payments directly at any DTB outlet—whether or not they hold an account with the bank.
The integration with ZanMalipo is part of DTB’s broader strategy to contribute to national development through digital innovation and financial inclusion. Chowdhury affirmed DTB’s role as a trusted financial partner in advancing public-private sector collaboration and expanding modern banking infrastructure across Tanzania.
ZRA Taxpayer Services Manager Saada Kassim Ali said the partnership widens the scope of revenue collection, moving away from cashbased systems toward more secure, bank-based digital payments.
“This is a great milestone for ZRA. Adding DTB to our network of partner banks strengthens our ability to bringing services closer to the people and improve tax collection,” she said.
