Tanzania reveals three unique qualities of Vision 2050

DODOMA: THE Executive Secretary of the Planning Commission of the National Development Vision 2050, Dr Fred Msemwa, has mentioned three unique and key qualities of the vision 2050 where among which is the fact that the preparation is fully funded by the government.
Speaking during the grand launching of the new National Development Vision 2050 in Dodoma today, Dr Nsemwa said that despite the preparation being expensive and a time-consuming task, the Ministry of Finance managed to cover the full cost.
He also said that going through all 12 stages of the preparation of the vision, from preparation, analysis, drafting, to validation, the activities were carried out by Tanzanian experts alone.
Dr Nsemwa further mentioned the last unique quality by saying that the government successfully included all social groups in the country, including individual citizens.

Explaining to President Samia Suluhu Hassan how the whole method took place and the success achieved, he said that they made sure to visit door to door, using pre-prepared questionnaires to ask citizens about their opinions and aspirations for what they want the country to look like by 2050 where through the approach, they reached 1.174 million Tanzanians who gave their views in person at the household level.
Other methods included providing a toll-free SMS platform, which over 8,000 Tanzanians used to share their thoughts.
Commenting on the side of social media, he said that they opened social media channels through which citizens submitted their opinions, and they successfully collected feedback from over 100,000 Tanzanians through the platforms.
Other approaches included holding meetings, forums, and seminars on both Tanzania mainland and in Zanzibar.

“After collecting these opinions, we also sought experiences from other countries that have advanced, especially those that have already reached upper-middle-income status, which is the main goal of this new vision. We learned from several countries, particularly in Asia and other African nations such as Botswana and South Africa, to ensure we didn’t miss any important knowledge in preparing this vision,” he said.
This historic event, which is being graced by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and marks a new dawn that defines the country’s development targets and plans for the next 25 years.
