TPDF, US Elite forces launch special training for peacekeeping operations

DAR ES SALAAM: The Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF), through its Peace and Security Training Centre, has officially launched a special eight-week joint military training program in collaboration with elite forces from the United States.
The training aims to strengthen capacity in addressing emerging global security challenges.
Speaking at the official launch event in Dar es Salaam, the Commandant of the Training Centre, Major General George Itang’are, stated that the program is part of the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET), which brings together soldiers from both nations to exchange skills and improve the effectiveness of peacekeeping operations.

On his part, the Chief Coordinator and Supervisor of the training, Colonel Mussa Ally, explained that the program will be conducted across four regions: Dar es Salaam, Msata, Kilimanjaro, and Tanga. The goal, he said, is to enhance unity, preparedness, and military cooperation in safeguarding future peace and security.
Major Christian Gehreles from the U.S. military emphasized that the training is designed to strengthen military cooperation between Tanzania and the United States, while also preparing both forces to jointly confront emerging global security threats.

The training has been launched under the theme “Stronger Together, Safe Tomorrow”, and officially began today, July 15, 2025. It is scheduled to conclude on August 29, 2025.
