Democracy, trade, investment peak at Tanzania-Cyprus cooperation talks

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Cyprus Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Constantinos Kombos, has concluded his three-day official visit to Tanzania today, which was based on strengthening the relationship between the two countries in various areas.
Tanzania’s Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, bid farewell to the Cypriot Foreign Minister and accompanied him to Julius Nyerere International Airport, where he departed at the end of his official visit.
During his stay in the country, Tanzania and Cyprus signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations which is expected to enhance and strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.

Moreover, Mr Kombos held talks with various Tanzanian government officials where they discussed priority areas of cooperation, including democracy, good governance, trade, investment, and sustainable development, for the mutual benefit of both parties.
Mr Kombos visited Tanzania on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who is also the Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas.
The main objective of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Tanzania and the European Union, support preparations for Tanzania’s 2025 general elections, and promote economic cooperation under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, which aims to boost infrastructure development and global trade.
