Yas bags GSMA mobile money certification

DAR ES SALAAM: YAS Tanzania has been awarded the GSMA Mobile Money Certification, marking a major vote of confidence in the country’s digital finance sector.
This recognition highlights Yas Tanzania as one of the fastest-growing and most trusted mobile money platforms in Tanzania.
Yas Chief Executive Officer, Ms Angelica Pesha called the GSMA certification a ‘powerful validation’ of the company’s commitment to secure, inclusive, and innovative financial services, promising customers that every transaction is protected and their trust valued.
“It’s a promise that every transaction is protected, every detail is secure and our customers’ trust is our most valuable asset,” she said.

The GSMA Mobile Money Certification is a global standard recognising platforms that meet strict benchmarks in AML, CFT, data protection, system integrity and resilience. Mixx by Yas achieved a perfect score ‘with distinction.’
“Achieving this certification is no small feat,” said Mike Kamau, Managing Director of Certi-Trust. “Mixx by Yas exceeded strict standards, especially in customer protection and system integrity, confirming it operates at the highest international level and is ready to scale responsibly.” Mobile money has become a critical enabler in Tanzania, especially in areas where traditional banking access remains limited.
For millions, services like Mixx are a financial lifeline – allowing users to send and receive money, pay bills, access credit and save for the future.
With the GSMA Certification now in hand, Mixx by Yas says it is more ready than ever to deepen its impact and broaden its reach, not only by serving individual users, but also by partnering with banks, fintechs, regulators and businesses looking for a compliant and scalable digital finance partner.
“We see this milestone not as an end, but a beginning,” Ms Pesha declared. “Our mission remains to connect every Tanzanian to safe, seamless and secure financial services and we are just getting started.”
