Stand United, Fountain Gate in promotion decider

SHINYANGA: STAND United welcome Fountain Gate today at CCM Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga for the first leg of a Mainland Premier League playoff.
This two-legged tie will determine which team complete the 16-team lineup that will participate in next season’s topflight league.
Fountain Gate are making their second attempt after previously losing to a fellow Mainland Premier League side, Tanzania Prisons, last month.
They are eager to remain in the league, while Stand United aim to climb from the Championship League to the Mainland Premier League.
If Stand United perform well and win both legs, they will secure promotion to the Premier League.
However, if they lose, Fountain Gate will retain their place in the top flight, leaving Stand United to battle for another season in the lower division.

Fountain Gate arrive in Shinyanga stemming from a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Tanzania Prisons at Sokoine Stadium.
This heavy loss has put pressure on the team to bounce back quickly and deliver a stronger performance in today’s match. Meanwhile, Stand United’s recent form has also been inconsistent.
In their last four matches, they have secured only one win and lost the other three.
Despite this shaky performance, they come into this fixture with renewed confidence following a convincing 2-0 victory over Geita Gold in the return leg of their last playoff match.
This result came after a 2-2 draw away in Geita, which allowed them to progress on aggregate.
