Ngorongoro to introduce global digital payment system

ARUSHA: THE Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) is finalising the development of interactive digital platforms and global payment systems that will enable tourists and visitors to make payments virtually from anywhere in the world.
According to NCAA Commissioner, Abdul-Razaq Badru, the new system is designed to streamline payments, allowing tourists to complete transactions conveniently from their home countries before arriving at the site.
“When they arrive here, tourists will no longer have to undergo cumbersome processes. They will simply begin their adventures unhampered,” said Commissioner Badru.
The tailor-made Ngorongoro digital payment system will be accessible globally and integrated with the government’s e-payment platform, ensuring secure and seamless transactions.
Mr Badru also disclosed that NCAA is upgrading its internal road infrastructure to ensure the smooth movement of tourist vehicles within one of Tanzania’s premier destinations.

“Ngorongoro is a vital tourist site for Tanzania and a guardian of the world’s cradle of mankind, preserving global history,” he said.
He further noted that new attractions will soon be introduced, focusing on cultural heritage, which has long been associated with Ngorongoro since its establishment in 1959.
The commissioner made the remarks in Arusha during a special event in which the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Pindi Chana, officially commissioned newly appointed NCAA officials.
During the ceremony, the Minister administered oaths of office to two Deputy Commissioners and five Assistant Commissioners, entrusting them with their new responsibilities.
“Now that the country is receiving more than 5.2 million tourists annually, it is important to ensure all our national parks and conservation areas are well maintained and efficiently managed,” Minister Chana emphasised.
She commended the NCAA for introducing new attractions that enhance the value of the already renowned destination. Chairperson of the NCAA Board, General Venance Mabeyo (rtd) advised the newly appointed officials to uphold integrity and commitment in their duties.
“Discipline is the foundation of positive outcomes. It is one of the reasons why Tanzania recently won multiple trophies at the World Travel Awards (WTA),” he said.
Ngorongoro, accessed through the Loduare Gate, also serves as a key entry point to the Serengeti National Park, making it a strategic gateway to the Northern Tourism Circuit.
The conservation area is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site but also East Africa’s first Global Geopark, a distinction that, according to Commissioner Badru, necessitates ongoing improvements in infrastructure and service delivery.
