72 envoys attend training on the strategic role of the private sector in economic growth
DAR ES SALAAM: 72 participants have today, January 7, 2026. completed the Long Course at the Tanzania National Defense College (NDC-TZ) through a special lecture highlighting the contribution of the private sector to national economic development.
The is aimed to strengthen their understanding of economic and business issues.
The lecture was delivered by the President of the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TNCC), Vincent Minja, accompanied by the Chamber’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Oscar Kissanga.
72 participants from 17 countries, including African and non-African nations, Tanzania included, attended the session.
The main theme focused on the strategic role of the private sector in driving economic growth, as well as the importance of strengthening close cooperation between the private sector and the government as a foundation for sustainable national development.
Speaking during the lecture, Minja said sustainable economic growth cannot be achieved without a strong private sector that works closely with the government in implementing development policies and plans.
He also emphasized the importance of adding value to Africa’s domestic resources in order to enhance the competitiveness of African products, promote industrialization, strengthen the use of technology, and develop local skills.

On his part, the College’s Senior Directing Staff Instructor from the Navy, Brigadier General Baga Traseas Rutambuka, commended TNCC for delivering a highly beneficial lecture.
He noted that a broad understanding of economic and business matters is essential for NDC-TZ participants as part of their preparation for both military and civilian leadership roles.
Meanwhile, TNCC stated that it will continue to collaborate with national and international institutions in promoting trade, investment, and private sector growth, to foster inclusive and sustainable development for Tanzania and the African continent as a whole.
