49th DITF preparations reach 85pc

DAR ES SALAAM: PREPARATIONS for the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) have reached 85 per cent, with public institutions being urged to increase the speed of branding their pavilions.

This was said on Monday by the Temeke District Commissioner Sixtus Mapunda when he visited TanTrade to inspect the preparations for the exhibition.

“I urge public institutions to speed up their branding preparations, as their current pace is too slow. If they continue at this sluggish rate, we might reach the exhibition date and find that their booths lack the required standards. I kindly ask them to come and ensure everything is ready on time.

“I also urge them to learn from private companies, which are doing a very good job in branding,” he said.

Eleven ministries and about 112 government institutions have confirmed their participation in the exhibition.

This year’s theme is: “The Sabasaba International Trade Fair – The Pride of Tanzania.”

Furthermore, he commended TanTrade for its transport innovation, which will help facilitate movement during the event.

“There will be special electric and battery-powered vehicles for moving people around… Additionally, there will be vehicles to transport both visitors and exhibitors.

Since this is an international exhibition, it requires international-level discipline and I will not tolerate anything less.”

“From now until the end of the exhibitions, no trucks are allowed to pack along the roads surrounding TanTrade grounds stern measures will be taken against anyone who violates this directive,” the DC said.

TanTrade’s Director General, Ms Latifa Khamis, said there is intense competition in branding and everyone has made great efforts.

She said that government institutions must act quickly to complete their branding efforts, as time is running out. The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 3rd.

She said that Sabasaba is one of the biggest exhibitions in Africa, and they expect over 5,000 participants.

Additional, already 23 countries have confirmed their participation and East African countries including Rwanda and Burundi continuing with the registration  process with expectations that the number will increase.

Meanwhile, Ms Khamis said that integrating modern transport solutions into the fair’s infrastructure marks a shift toward professionalism and convenience.

“There will be no more handcarts inside the exhibition grounds. Instead, modern transport provided by Posta bookable via the Swift Pack app will facilitate smooth mobility for both exhibitors and visitors,” said the DG adding this reflects our vision for a more efficient and globally competitive trade fair.
