30bn/- Cancer services block at Mkapa Hospital nears completion

DODOMA: THE construction of a cancer services building (Radiotherapy Unit) at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital, worth more than 30bn/- is expected to be completed before December 2025.
Minister for Health, Jenista Mhagama, announced this on Thursday in Dodoma, noting that the completion of the facility will improve access to cancer treatment services for citizens.

According to the minister, the ministry is determined to ensure that Tanzanians get specialized services in the country rather than going abroad.
Additionally, she said that the ministry also has plans to construct additional centres of excellence at the Benjamin Mkapa Hospital, including a blood and bone marrow diseases centre and a kidney disease centre.
“All these efforts are aimed at advancing medical tourism and ensuring that Tanzanians can access healthcare within a five-kilometre radius from where they live,” she said.
