16th East African Procurement Forum begins in Arusha

ARUSHA: THE 16th East African Procurement Forum, focused on “Digitalisation for Sustainable Public Procurement,” commences today in Arusha for a four-day event.

Approximately 1,000 delegates from East African countries are expected to participate at the four-day event, the Director General of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Mr Dennis Simba said during a pre-forum briefing.

Tanzania, a consistent attendee, is marking its fifth participation since the forum’s inception.

The forum serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, experience exchange and addressing common challenges in public procurement across the region.

Mr Simba highlighted Tanzania’s commendable progress in public procurement and emphasised the country’s leadership in developing the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST).

NeST is currently integrated with 17 procurement systems within Tanzania.

With all preparations complete and participants beginning to arrive in Arusha, the forum is poised to deliver valuable insights and discussions on digitalising public procurement in East Africa.
