Yanga put three past Wiliete away

ANGOLA: YOUNG Africans SC claimed a 3–0 away win over Wiliete SC in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie at 11 de Novembro Stadium in Talatona, Angola yesterday.
The win places Yanga in a strong position ahead of the second leg of the preliminary round. However, they will need to secure an aggregate victory in the return fixture at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on September 27th.
The team that progresses on aggregate will advance to the next round of the competition, where they will face the winner of the tie between Silver Strikers of Malawi and Elgeco Plus of Madagascar.
The visitors – Yanga began the match with a direct approach, pressing Wiliete SC early and creating several opportunities. In the 19th minute, Clement Mzize made a run down the right flank and delivered a pass to Prince Dube in the penalty area, but his shot was saved by Wiliete goalkeeper, Agostinho Calunga.
Yanga maintained pressure throughout the first half, and their efforts were rewarded in the 32nd minute when Aziz Andabwile intercepted a pass in midfield, carried the ball forward into space and struck from outside the penalty area. His shot beat the goalkeeper, giving Yanga the lead at half-time.
At the start of the second half, Yanga maintained pressure. Mzize and Mohamed Doumbia combined to find Dube again in the box, but the Wiliete goalkeeper Calunga made another save to deny the visitors a second goal.
Wiliete responded with some attempts of their own. In the 54th minute, Jorge Mendes took a long-range effort that went wide. Minutes later, Mendes delivered a diagonal ball from the right that found Jonilson Manuel on the left flank. Manuel, who was unmarked, sprinted forward and headed the ball into the box, setting up Adriano Nicolau, whose header went over the bar.
Yanga made changes in the second half, with Edmund John and Maxi Nzengeli replacing Mzize and Doumbia. The changes had an impact in the 71st minute when Nzengeli delivered a pass into the box for John, who scored to extend the lead.
