Yanga fortify squad, bench for 2025/26 season

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans Sports Club have officially announced that significant groundwork is underway, including appointment of a new head coach and completion of key player signings aimed at strengthening the team’s competitive edge.

Speaking yesterday in Dar es Salaam, Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe said the enhanced squad will report to a training camp at the end of this month, kicking off preparations for the highly anticipated 2025/26 Tanzania Mainland Premier League season.

“The new head coach arrived in Tanzania several weeks ago and is currently immersed in a thorough review of the technical reports handed over by last season’s coaching staff,” Kamwe explained.

“With nearly three different coaches managing the team last season, there’s a wealth of data for him to analyse. This evaluation is vital as it will help pinpoint the squad’s strengths and identify areas that need reinforcement,” he added.

Kamwe further emphasised: “We are in the final stages of confirming the new coach’s appointment. An official announcement will follow once the evaluation process is complete. We plan to kick off our initial training camp in early August, with the venue to be confirmed and announced shortly.”

Beyond the technical bench, Yanga SC are set to unveil a wave of new signings starting July 20.

According to Kamwe, the club is finalising the registration of all targeted players in the ongoing most active transfer windows in recent years, including the most hunted defensive midfielder from CS Sfaxien, Balla Moussa Conté.

“This transfer window has been one of the biggest in recent memory, we have successfully secured contracts with every player we pursued and we are confident these additions will enhance the squad’s overall quality,” he said.

Kamwe also noted that the club will soon introduce members of the revamped technical team ahead of the new season, signalling a fresh chapter for Yanga SC.

“These strategic changes come amid intensifying competition in the Tanzanian Premier League. Several top clubs are making substantial investments, hiring high-calibre coaches with continental experience,” Kamwe remarked.

“The upcoming season promises to be fiercely competitive. To maintain our position at the summit, we must be fully prepared and focused,” he disclosed.

Looking ahead, Kamwe highlighted that the club’s broader vision is to stretch beyond local dominance.

We aim to build a strong, competitive squad capable of challenging for both domestic titles and continental glory.

He further said that as they refine their strategies and restructure the team, they reaffirm their commitment to uphold Yanga’s legacy as one of Tanzania’s football powerhouses.
