Unity A clinch Patel Night cricket title

DAR ES SALAAM: Unity A clinched the 2025 Patel Night Cricket title in a high-octane finale under the floodlights at the Patel Samaj Ground in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday night.
Unity A, defeated FLTC Dhosa Popin A by four wickets in a nail-biting contest that went down to the penultimate ball.
Batting first after winning the toss, FLTC Dhosa Popin A got off to a flying start, thanks to a blistering knock from Brahmaiah Gurram, who remained unbeaten on 49 off just 23 balls, peppering the boundary with one four and five sixes.
Gurram’s power-packed innings lifted FLTC to a competitive total of 67 runs in the six-over showdown. In response, Unity A kept their nerves under pressure.
Despite losing three wickets during the chase, their batting unit showed composure, crossing the finishing line with just one delivery to spare, securing a memorable fourwicket victory and lifting the coveted title.
Earlier in the evening, Unity A had booked their place in the final with a commanding 35-run win over DIT Gymkhana, racking up 96 runs before restricting their opponents to 61.
FLTC Dhosa Popin A earned their spot in the final with a 13-run victory over Flashnet Cricket Pranthanz A in the second semi-final, putting in a solid all-round performance to defend their total of 80 with confidence.
The tournament featured 11 teams, split into two groups — Group A and Group B — and was played in the dynamic 6-a-side, 6-over format under night conditions, delivering fast-paced, power-packed and entertaining cricket.

Other participating teams included Wicked Walkers, Hitech Sai A, Hitech Sai B, Unity B, Patel A, Patel B and Cricket Gunners.
Despite ending on the losing side, Brahmaiah Gurram was named Player of the Match for the final, with his explosive innings standing out as the highlight of the night and earning praise for both his power-hitting and temperament.
With Unity A lifting the trophy and multiple standout performances lighting up the competition, the 2025 edition of the Patel Night Cricket Tournament has raised the bar for amateur cricket in the region.
The tournament was organised by the Patel Brotherhood/Patel Samaj (PBPS) in Dar es Salaam.
