Samia highlights development achievements and promises more projects in Morogoro Campaign Rally

MOROGORO: Chama Cha Mapinduzi Presidency candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan, today addressed thousands of supporters at Tumbaku Grounds in Morogoro, where she outlined her government’s achievements in the region and unveiled further commitments aimed at improving livelihoods.
Samia emphasized that her working visit to Morogoro had successfully delivered major development milestones. Among them were the launch of a new cigarette factory, the inauguration of the Berege Bridge, the 142-kilometer Ludewa–Kilosa road, and the Ruaha Bridge.
She also reaffirmed her government’s commitment to ensuring access to clean and safe water. Ongoing projects include the construction of the Kidunda Dam, short-term water supply projects in Kihonda, Mkundi, Mindu, and Kingolwira, expansion of the Mindu Dam, and the Mafiga water treatment project.
On road infrastructure Samia announced that the government had increased the TARURA budget for the 2025/26 financial year, enabling construction and rehabilitation of key roads such as the Msamvu–Morogoro–Bigwa road, the Morogoro–Dodoma highway, and the Mkundi Bridge.
In the health sector, she highlighted progress in expanding healthcare access, with 28 new health centers and 28 dispensaries being constructed across the region. Additionally, new laboratories and a surgical unit at Tungi Hospital, a maternity and children’s ward at Mafiga, and the implementation of Universal Health Insurance remain top priorities.
On education, 190 new secondary school classrooms are being built to accommodate the growing number of students. In the energy sector, plans are underway to construct a new electricity substation to strengthen supply reliability.
For trade and economic development, Samia announced the construction of modern markets in Morogoro Municipality and Kilosa, alongside new storage facilities. In agriculture, the government will continue providing subsidies and certified quality seeds, while five grain warehouses are being built in Kilosa along the Standard Gauge Railway corridor to improve crop storage.
Infrastructure development also features prominently, with projects such as the 67-kilometer Ifakara–Mahenge road, the Morogoro–Njombe road link, and the establishment of the Morogoro Convention Centre.
Addressing land ownership challenges, Samia assured residents that land surveying and title deed issuance will continue to empower citizens with secure land rights.

The rally at Tumbaku Grounds was marked by great enthusiasm, as residents of Morogoro welcomed the candidate’s commitments with chants and applause, reflecting widespread support for CCM’s development agenda ahead of the General Election.
