‘Samia has delivered’

RUKWA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has been hailed for her visionary leadership in improving social services across the country and uplifting the lives of Tanzanians, particularly in underserved regions.
Addressing a campaign rally in Laela, Rukwa Region, yesterday, CCM presidential running mate, Ambassador Emmanuel Nchimbi praised Dr Samia for her dedication to expanding access to essential services such as healthcare, education and transportation.
“Our president has directed all her efforts towards building health centres, roads, schools, classrooms and increasing the number of teachers, as well as ensuring all hospitals are adequately supplied with medicines,” said Amb Nchimbi.
He further said that the government has delivered in strengthening maternal and child healthcare services, while maintaining peace and stability in the country.
“The big question is how do we thank President Samia for her heartfelt dedication to our country? The answer is simple, five more years,” Nchimbi declared.
Amb Nchimbi outlined key milestones achieved in Laela and Kwela, noting that the government, in collaboration with the Roman Catholic Church, successfully upgraded the Laela Health Centre.
Other developments include increasing the number of dispensaries from 55 to 67, expanding primary schools from 104 to 118, growing secondary schools from 16 to 25, recruiting more teachers, from 1,484 to 1,660.
In regard to water sector, he said that 15 new water projects had been completed, raising water coverage in Rukwa from 77 to 80 per cent.
He also cited major infrastructure projects, including ongoing construction of the Ilembo Bridge, valued at 960m/- and upgrading of 2.7 kilometres of roads at a cost of 1.5bn/-.
To boost the agriculture sector, Amb Nchimbi noted that fertiliser supply rose from 2,830 to 7,438 tonnes, while maize seed supply increased from 870 to 1,005 tonnes. Consequently, maize production jumped from 379,000 to 500,000 tonnes.
In the livestock and fishing sectors, markets increased from three to five, two new patrol boats were added, improving surveillance and regulation of livestock and fishery resources.

Speaking about future plans for Rukwa, Amb Nchimbi outlined several commitments under the CCM government including construction of three new health centres in Rukwa, including one in Laela, addition of 203 classrooms for secondary schools, building of 50 new primary schools and expansion of clean water coverage to 90 per cent.
He also announced plans to construct a modern bus terminal in Laela, an agricultural market and an industrial park focused on food processing.
While addressing citizens in Kalambo, Amb Nchimbi announced a new initiative to digitise the handling of public complaints.
“Within the first 100 days, we will launch a special digital platform where citizens can submit complaints. The system will track who submitted it, where, and whether it has been resolved or not,” he said.
He said that the system will enhance transparency and accountability, holding local and national leaders responsible for unresolved issues.
“If a division officer, district commissioner, regional commissioner or even a minister fails to respond, we will know and take appropriate action,” he added.
Amb Nchimbi described the initiative as a continuation of President Samia’s commitment to responsive and citizen-centred governance.
“Dr Samia wants the government to work for Tanzanians by delivering timely and effective services. Citizens must know this is their government,” he said.
Amb Nchimbi called on Kalambo residents to vote for CCM in the upcoming polls as a show of appreciation for President Samia’s exceptional performance over the past four and a half years.
Earlier, traditional leaders led by Chief Elikizanda Malipesa pledged their support to CCM and promised to mobilise voters in the region.
Also speaking at the rally, CCM’s Western Zone Campaign Coordinator, Mr Fadhili Maganya, said that President Samia is ready to continue addressing citizens’ challenges through the effective implementation of the 2025–2030 CCM Election Manifesto.
