NEMC lauded for consistent integrity in protecting the environment

DAR ES SALAAM: PUBLIC Service Commission (PSC) Commissioner, Dr. Laurean Ndumbaro, has commended the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) for consistently demonstrating integrity and accountability in fulfilling its mandate to manage and protect the environment across Tanzania.

Speaking today, October 23, 2025, in Dar es Salaam during an official working visit to the Council’s offices, Dr. Ndumbaro said the integrity shown by NEMC serves as a model for other public institutions, ensuring that services to citizens are delivered efficiently and in accordance with professional ethics.

He emphasized that integrity is the cornerstone of public service and the foundation upon which citizens’ trust in government is built.

Dr. Ndumbaro further noted that NEMC’s success in implementing environmental projects and enforcing environmental laws and regulations is clear evidence that the institution’s leaders and employees have prioritized national interests over personal gain.

On her part, NEMC Director General Dr. Immaculate Sware Semesi thanked the Commissioner for his assessment and pledged to continue working with greater professionalism, integrity, and innovation. She added that the recognition would further motivate NEMC staff to protect the nation’s natural resources and promote sustainable development for both present and future generations.

During his visit, Commissioner Dr. Ndumbaro was accompanied by other officials, including Mr. Peleleja Masesa, Director of Guidelines, Empowerment, and Research at the Public Service Commission.
