Kilimanjaro eyes to motivate the best performing schools

MOSHI: THE Executive Director of Moshi District Council, Shadrack Mhagama, has commended the Chairman of the Councilors’ Council, John Meela, for initiating the idea of providing motivation to teachers and schools that performed well in national examinations across various wards in the district.

Mhagama made the remarks during a Ordinary Meeting of the Councilors’ Council held at the Moshi District Council Conference Hall, where schools that recorded strong performance in the 2025 national examinations were officially recognized and congratulated.

He said rewarding schools, teachers, and students who excel is an important approach to improving the quality of education and strengthening healthy competition, while urging teachers to put in more effort to sustain and further improve these achievements.

During the event, a total of six government schools were awarded certificates of recognition along with cash prizes as part of the motivation for their good performance.

In the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) 2025, Usagara Primary School emerged first, followed by Langasani Primary School in second place, while Neville Primary School took third position.

Meanwhile, in secondary schools that performed well in the Form Two National Assessment (FTNA) 2025, Kisarika Secondary School ranked first, followed by Kirima Secondary School in second place, and Njia Panda Secondary School in third place.

Mhagama called on teachers and education administrators to continue strengthening cooperation, work discipline, and innovation in teaching to ensure that these successes are sustained and enhanced in the coming years.

On his part, the Chairman of Moshi District Council, John Meela, said the council will continue to recognize and evaluate the contribution of teachers and schools that perform well, noting that such efforts are vital in strengthening the development of the education sector in the district.

Meela added that he hopes the motivation system will be expanded to include staff from other sectors as well, in order to encourage hard work and efficiency.

Among the teachers recognized was the Head Teacher of Njia Panda Secondary School, Veila Kwayu, whose school ranked third. Kwayu said this is his second year overseeing candidates sitting for the Form Two National Assessment since the school was established.

She said receiving the motivation is a great encouragement and a catalyst to work even harder, especially considering that this year the school will sit for the Form Two National Assessment for the third time and the Form Four National Examination for the first time since its establishment.

“I sincerely thank our council for recognizing our contribution, and I pray that this motivation does not end here. This year we have the Form Two examinations for the third time and the Form Four examinations for the very first time, so I have a great responsibility to ensure that the school defends its position or makes even greater progress,” said Kwayu.
