This was addressed by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. William Anangisye, during a 55th graduation ceremony.
He emphasized the institution’s role in contributing to national and global development through teaching, research, and public service.

According to Prof. Anangisye, the University continues to focus on fostering a conducive environment for both academic and personal growth. “We believe that quality student experiences come not only from academic excellence but also from a well-rounded campus life,” he added.
To support student development, the University offers a range of facilities and extracurricular opportunities, including sports, recreation, and student governance through the Students’ Union. On-campus amenities include dining, accommodation, healthcare, and leisure services, all designed to enhance the student experience and promote holistic learning.
The University also boasts strong collaborations with international institutions, industries, and research organizations. These partnerships are key to its strategy of integrating global innovation with local development goals.
Prof. Anangisye called on students to take responsibility for maintaining the University’s environment and infrastructure, encouraging open communication with his office. “We look forward to welcoming new and returning students to the University of Dar es Salaam, where they will find a community dedicated to academic distinction and societal progress,” he concluded
