DODOMA: THE government is advancing processes to establish the Tanzania Geoscientists Registration Board (TGRB), a move aimed at strengthening professionalism, regulation and accountability in geosciencerelated activities across the country.
Deputy Minister for Minerals, Dr Steven Kiruswa, told the National Assembly that key steps have already been completed, including the preparation of a draft Cabinet Paper proposing the establishment of the board.
He was responding to a basic question from Bukene MP John Luhende (CCM), who sought to know when the registration board for geoscientists would be finalised to enhance efficiency in mineral exploration and mining activities.
Dr Kiruswa said the ministry is currently gathering views and recommendations from stakeholders on several critical issues, including identifying sustainable revenue sources that will enable the proposed board to operate effectively.
“Once the collection and analysis of stakeholder inputs are completed, the ministry will submit the draft document to the government’s decisionmaking organs, including the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee (IMTC) and the Cabinet, for deliberation and final approval in accordance with the law,” he said.
