Ubungo Trade, Transport hub invites multinational investments

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, has called on both local and international businesspeople to seize the opportunity to trade at the newly completed Ubungo Trade and Transport Center(EACLC).
Speaking to the press today, July 30, 2025, ahead of the official launch scheduled for August 1, 2025, Chalamila emphasized that the center is a strategic investment aimed at enhancing tradenot at displacing local traders.

“This is a major step forward for Dar es Salaam and Tanzania as a whole. The center opens up a new world of business possibilities while safeguarding the interests of our local entrepreneurs,” he said.

Construction of the center began in 2023 through a partnership with Chinese investors. The ambitious project has now been completed for 100m US dollars and boasts over 2,000 retail spaces. The facility is expected to become a major commercial hub in the region, connecting Tanzania to broader markets across Africa and beyond.
The Ubungo Trade and Transport Center is seen as a game-changer for the city, promising to boost economic activity, create jobs, and streamline both domestic and cross-border trade.
