Tanzania, Dubai business gets boost

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIAN-firm Xerin Group has pledged to maintain consistent direct cargo flights between Tanzania and Dubai, aiming to simplify business and boost trade.

The new service is expected to increase trade volume by reducing transit times and opening opportunities for businesses in both countries.

Statistics show that in 2023, trade balance between the two countries have been steadily growing, with bilateral trade surpassing 2.3 billion US dollars.

The UAE ranks among Tanzania’s top five global trading partners, importing various agricultural goods while exporting electronics, oil products and construction materials.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam after receiving their weekly cargo plane, Xerin Logistics’ Head of Business Development and Communications, Ms Lilian Erasmus emphasised the company’s commitment to consistent service between Tanzania and Dubai.

“We started with one weekly flight every Wednesday, but we plan to increase to three or even seven weekly flights soon,” she said.

Ms Erasmus noted that most cargo consists of perishable goods such as fish, meat, fruits and flowers. She reaffirmed Xerin’s support for government efforts to expand trade, especially for local exporters of perishables.

“The quality of our goods is crucial to competing globally, so we are committed to maintaining high standards in handling perishables before shipment,” Ms Erasmus explained.
