PM unveils SGR move to serve Tanzanian neighbours

ABIDJAN, IVORY COAST: TANZANIA is continuing its efforts to develop modern infrastructure aimed at connecting African countries and boosting the nation’s economic growth.

One of the major projects currently being implemented is the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which aims to link neighboring countries including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi.

In addition, the Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA), which connects to Zambia, continues to play a vital role in the transportation of passengers and goods.

This was stated by Tanzania’s Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa, during a panel discussion that brought together prime ministers from Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and Cameroon. The discussion was held as part of the ongoing African CEO Forum taking place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

In his address, Prime Minister Majaliwa who is representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan explained that the Tanzanian government works closely with the private sector in its efforts to drive economic growth and improve the livelihoods of its people.
